Blank screen in RedHat Enterprise WS

I am new to linux. I figured I would get that out of the way first. I successfully made my way through installation (I think/hope). However, upon completion of install it rebooted as it should and when it started up, I would only see the lines of text. Afterwards, my monitor would go blank. I pressed Ctrl + Alt + F1 as I was advised on another forum and here is the result...

Starting this: [ok]
Starting that: [ok]
et cetera... here is where it stops progressing.
Starting firstboot: iptables (c) 2000-2002 Netfilter Core Team

And that's it. Ctrl+Alt+F2, F3, F4, F5, F6 yield only a blinking cursor. F1 shows the text I wrote above and F7 gives me a black screen and my monitor goes to standby.
