Post Google Announces Browser Security Handbook

Quote:
In hopes of helping to make the Web a safer place, we decided to release our Browser Security Handbook to the general public. This 60-page document provides a comprehensive comparison of a broad set of security features and characteristics in commonly used browsers, along with (hopefully) useful commentary and implementation tips for application developers who need to rely on these mechanisms, as well as engineering teams working on future browser-side security enhancements.

This from the company that has "google-analytics" javascript on almost every site on the internet.

One good idea for Internet security (and privacy) is to NOT use Google's web browser but instead use Firefox and be sure you've installed No Script and Ad Block plugins to avoid Google and others from tracking everything you're doing.

Honestly, I kinda see that as a plus in this case.

Right, but keep in mind that the handbook is focused on security (not privacy), and it's aimed at "web application developers, browser engineers, and information security researchers" (not end users).

Privacy and Security are two totally separate issues that have some interlinks. You can have security without privacy, you can't have privacy without security.

I'd suggest without privacy you don't really have security.

That would imply that no animals could ever be secure then.

Security through obscurity doesn't work.
