hello linuxali
first of all you should indicate a part of ur problem in the subject itself
so that it is easy for us to have a look at your question.
regarding ur problem
you can just use any interface like (shorewall or guarddog) or write an iptables script to block the port that are for
p2p sharing
regards

Agreed. I'm renaming this thread with a more informative title. In the future please try to make your thread titles as descriptive as possible. Thanks.

Hello Friends!
I am running iptables. My policies are set to DROP by default and i am manually accepting desired ports. but even then p2p like Limewire manages to connect through my network and sucks bandwidth. I have just tested limewire , may be many more p2pz will be working. Please give me comprehensive solution regarding this issue as those p2pz are really kicking my ass. My bandwidth chooks in peak hours. Quick responce will be appreciated.
Regards
LinuxAli

Why do you think Limewire is connecting to your machine? Are you running the Limewire client?

Can you give some more details about what it is that you are seeing that is of concern?
When you say you tested it at a client, what was the test you ran? Why do you think the test indicated Limewire or other p2p app was generating traffic?
Perhaps a little detail about the setup. Is it just one client that is your personal box that is an issue? Or are you a Sysadmin looking after larger network with lots of users and the problem is the gateway?
Building a solution is usually easy. But first we must understand the problem. Alas, understanding the problem can be very hard.
