Connecting to the net bypassing web proxy

Hello ladies and gents

i am quite interested to know how to bypass a web proxy? There is no need to tell me exactly how to step by step...i am googling and i can find something specific....i know for a fact that is possible...my email thunderbird mail gets connected directly to smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk bypassing the proxy (i check the logs). Can i use a similar principal for web browsing....can i set up somewhere externaly a web server or something where my browser is going to be connected to do and browse from there?...thank you in advance for your help.

What type of network / intenet-connection do you have? Who controls the proxy?

If you have a transparent proxy running on the internet gateway, then it controls all port 80 (http) traffic.
