Chroot Apache

Hi presently i'm running debian Apache under root, how do i get it running under www-data like it used to back in FC3.

Code:
xserve:~# ps ux | grep apache
root 19215 0.0 0.5 13828 2288 ? Ss Jun14 0:01 /usr/sbin/apache2 -k start -DSSL
xserve:~#

in passwd, theres www-data tho.
Code:
xserve:~# cat /etc/passwd | grep www-data
www-data:x:33:33:www-data:/var/www:/bin/sh
xserve:~#

i tried looking under httpd.conf to chroot it in www-data. I hope this is the right way... but seems like apache is still running in root.
Code:
httpd.conf
User www-data
Group www-data
How do i get it chrooted?

Firstly, make sure that you are editing the correct httpd.conf, on debian it is in

/etc/apache2

Secondly, the file it stores the uid in is apache2.conf in this directory

Quote:

#grep www-data apache2.conf
User www-data
Group www-data
Then, make sure you are starting apache using /etc/init.d/apache2 start

I hope this is useful, if you have more information on your setup, just reply and I might
be able to provide some better help.

Regards
