Exclamation Child terminated with 1 status

When I installed Ubuntu, there was no root password and I used my user password to gain root privileges, but now it tells my my password is wrong.
I think the problem started when I changed my username.

what you could do,

Use the ubuntu live cd, and sudo su within that instance. Then chroot into your installation, and #passwd $username.

EDIT:

PS, when I read the thread's subject line.. I was like, "child terminated? since when does this forum talk about pro choice? hehe...
