XMMS mp3 encoding wont stay...


everytime i bootup i cant play mp3's.. then i mess around with the preferences and DONT SAVE THEM... i just puch buttons and hit cancel.. then i can play mp3's.. does anyone know why?

the error i get says...

couldnt pen audio please check that..
1 you have the correct outpuit plugin selected..
2 no programs are blocking the sound card...
3 you sound cards are configuyred prolerly..

Try ps xa | grep arts then kill number_of_artsd_process or install xmms-arts plugin and use that for the output instead of the OSS that is the default.

http://www.xmms.org/plugins.php or most distributions already have it compiled and packaged if it's Knoppix you are using then apt-get install xmms-arts not sure what they call it in Redhat.

thanks man also.. do you got a link to liblogg's and all that wierd stuff? i cant seem to install some packages cause it says i need those...
