Xine Installation Problem

I am trying to install Xine to play .wma, .mpeg, DVDs, etc. I follow the instructions on the xine website (http://xinehq.de/index.php/faq#AEN66), and everything runs smoothly until it tells me to run "ldconfig". When I run this, it simply says command not found. I even made sure that the path /etc/ld.so.conf contained /usr/local/lib as it says in the website. Any ideas????

ldconfig is in /sbin which implies that it can only be run by root (usually anyway).

though not that pertinent but its generally advised that the softwares be built from source rather than installing from any package managment system like rpm. it save u from lots of evils.

Thank you very much Reddazz that did the trick. I can't tell you how steamed I was that i couldn't play mp3s, wma's, etc
