wirless RPM install difficulties
Aight, im new to linux, but im not too stupid. So im following the wlan-ng instructions to install. Im installing wmp11 (linksys), and ive read everywhere that it should be good to use.
I need to install 3 things:
1.base files: kernel-wlan-ng-0.2.0-7.athlon.rpm
2.modules: kernel-wlan-ng-modules-rh9.9-0.2.0-7.athlon.rpm
3.pci files: kernel-wlan-ng-pci-0.2.0-7.athlon.rpm
so i do (as root) the
rpm -i kernel-wlan-ng-0.2.0-7.athlon.rpm kernel-wlan-ng-modules-rh9.9-0.2.0-7.athlon.rpm kernel-wlan-ng-pci-0.2.0-7.athlon.rpm
and it says
file /sbin/nwepgen from install of kernel-wlan-ng-0.2.0-7 conflicts with file from package kernel-wlan-ng-0.1.15-6
file /sbin/wlancfg from install of kernel-wlan-ng-0.2.0-7 conflicts with file from package kernel-wlan-ng-0.1.15-6
file /sbin/wlanctl-ng from install of kernel-wlan-ng-0.2.0-7 conflicts with file from package kernel-wlan-ng-0.1.15-6
file /sbin/wland from install of kernel-wlan-ng-0.2.0-7 conflicts with file from package kernel-wlan-ng-0.1.15-6
which means i got 1.15-6 installed. so i pull a -U instead of -i to get over that problem.
failed dependency, it says i need the kernel-wlan-ng-0.1.15-6, aight, so i add that to the -U.
package kernel-wlan-ng-0.1.15-6 is already installed

file /sbin/wlancfg conflicts between attempted installs of kernel-wlan-ng-0.1.15-6 and kernel-wlan-ng-0.2.0-7
file /sbin/wlanctl-ng conflicts between attempted installs of kernel-wlan-ng-0.1.15-6 and kernel-wlan-ng-0.2.0-7
file /sbin/wland conflicts between attempted installs of kernel-wlan-ng-0.1.15-6 and kernel-wlan-ng-0.2.0-7
so what im getting is 1.15 is installed, and i can't upgrade over it, can't uninstall it, and when i try and install with just 1.15, and w/o 2.0-7 i get a failed dependency, need that file. what can i do?????
