Angry RPM installation difficulties on FC2


when i try to install an rpm like this:

$ rpm - i [file name]
i get this message:

error: can't create transaction lock

i'm using fc2 with KDE and bash and i have no idea what that means.

You need root access to install:
Code:
name@name$ su
Password:
name@name# rpm -i filename.rpm
The # symbol signifies that you are root.

You have to be in root for it to work.
