Unhappy Wireless and Audio problem

Hi! I have installed Linpus Linux Lite (Aspire One) on a HP laptop that use to have Windows XP on it. I am now not able to connect to the internet via the wireless connection. I have a Siemens GIga 7625SX router and the laptop used to be able to connect to this router.

The connection properties shows:
Interface: 802.11 WiFi (eth1)
Speed: unknown
Driver: bcm43xx
Hardware Address: 00:14:A5:69:B7:47

System Information:
Model Name: Aspire One
Operating System: Linpus Linux Lite v1.0.6.E
CPU: Inter(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1.5GHz
System Memory: 256MB
Hard Drive: 40GB
Battery: N/A
BIOS version: 68DTD Ver F.OC

Networks:
LAN: Broadcom Corporation BCM4401-BO 100 Base-TX (rev 02)
WiFi: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 (Airforce One 54g) 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)

I cannot even get the wifi indicator to come on. Furthermore, my audio is not working at all. I cannot even open the audio icon.

Can someone pls help me! I am totally new to this and am extremely happy with my daughters Aspire One that we purchased with Linpus on it.

Thanks in advance

according to your read out it is up and running please read your help files for your network manager.

read this very close. Then realize one thing linpus lite is a very small task oriented linux distro for certain machines. your broadcom card is supported by the kernel but you may need to install the firmware. and I have know Idea how to do this with an operating system that does not have root or sudo or all the stuff linux has. if you want something fast and small that does ten times more puppy lnux is the way to go here is a link that tells you how and why you need the firmware.
