I just installed Knoppix 3.4. I opened KDE Control Center (in an attempt to fix a different problem) and noticed the KDE Kernel Configurator. I open this and was surprised to find that my kernel is nowhere to be found. The error message is something along the lines of:

Sorry, KDE Control Center cannot find your kernel because no architecture was specified.

This brings me to the question of: Why is this happening? Where is my kernel?

If anyone could shed some light onto the source of this problem, I would appreciate it.

your kernel source should be in /usr/src/(the version of yout kernel) and you *.img system map and vmlinuz should be in /boot

you'll also want to install the kernel-source headers

i think u need to install the kernel headers as well the kernel development package

Your kernel is typically named /boot/vmlinuz It is a gzipped file that expands when loaded.
