What do I do - step by step - to select a photo and share it by e-mail?

How do I pick a photo from my file and turn it into an
attach file for e-mail? Another LQ member was kind to send
a link to Yahoo's procedure for attaching a file. I made
my first attempts this evening using a couple sets of
directions found on Google, but unsuccessfully.Yahoo:
"There was a problem -- no file was selected. I did select
a file, following the rather telegraphic directions to hand.
But something must be missing from the directions, or else
_I'm_missing something, as my selection got lost somewhere
along the line. BTW, not being sure what 'Destination'
means in the Send To dialogue box, I entered my e-mail
address. Is this the problem? If so, what _do_ I put
in Destination?

I will be most grateful if some kind, patient LQ person
will send step by step instructions - as idiot-proof as
possible - of the procedure from selecting to sending to
family and friends. Please don't leave anything out.

Thanks in advance for all help. I hate to be such a
noodge, but I really want to master this, and I need
all the help I can finf.

Mike

why not set up a regular mail account and use something like Thunderbird as the client?

If you really want to use Yahoo, then use their instructions---not something from a 3rd party.

One thing to watch out for: A lot of interactive dialogs will prompt you to select a file to attach, but will not actually finish the process without another command

When your looking at your e-mail that you have composed for the person you have made if for there should be a small paperclip and next to that paper clip is a small box that says 'browse'

Click on the box that says browse. After you click on browse all of your pictures, documents, etc. should open in an additional window.

Click on the picture you want and than click down at the bottom of the window the box that says save.
It will attatch the picture to the e-mail and should show you the progress as it adds/attatches the picture to your e-mail.

These instructions work for Google mail as well.
