What's source of message: Last Login...?

After boot my linux, I receibe this messages:

Debin GNU/Linux 3.1 ComputerX tty1...
source: /etc/issue (before local login )

last login...

Linux Computer...
source: /etc/motd (after login)

My question:
What's source of message: last Login...?

/var/run/utmp and /var/run/wtmp record login information.

Commands like who, last and finger read these files to determine your last login. (The files are not pure text so don't try to edit them.)
