Weird undefined video mode error situation

Ok I have OpenSuSE 11 and live cd. I had it all set up the way I wanted with the latest version of Compiz-Fuzion. I went to download a skydome image from, DOOM_3D_HELL_GUARDIAN 1 to be exact. I went to set it for my skydome and then the screen flashed a couple of times and then restarted. Since then I've been getting an undefinded video mode number error even with the live cd but not with a windows installation also on the hard drive. What could be causing this and how can it be fixed?
