VLC .avi subtitle sync

I have an .avi file and the associated subtitle .sub file which runs pretty fair on most media players (xine, kaffeine,..). Nevertheless under VLC player 0.8.6 I faced with subtitle out of sync (in default conditions .. without fps override and subtitle 0 delay..). Any clue? Thanks.
