Video problems

I hope someone can maybe help me here because I can't seem to get a registration confirmation from the PCLinuxOS forum.

I installed PCLinux OS Gnome 2011 into a dual booted machine and played around with it for a couple of days. Everything was fine. I liked what I saw and decided to wipe the drive and install just this. I used the same DVD and followed the same update procedure as before but this time videos/movies will only play in dark red & blue.
Tried three players including VLC.

Have I somehow encountered a codec or driver issue here?

Machine is AMD 7750 dual + 4G with ATI RS690 [Radeon X1200 series]

Well, quick self solution but not sure how or why this didn't happen with my first install. What I did was go through the list of VLC plugins in Synaptic and picked the three which had "video" in the title.
Now all works like a charm. Sorry to have wasted anyone's time here.
