video card acceleration

video card acceleration

I don't feel my video card is being taken full advantage of. BZFlag and Tux racer are going at about 3-4 FPS, and when this box had windows, BZFlag ran at about 30 FPS.

for starters, here is the output from lspci:
Code:
00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C693A/694x [Apollo PRO133x] (rev c4)
00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C598/694x [Apollo MVP3/Pro133x AGP]
00:07.0 ISA bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 [Apollo Super South] (rev 1b)
00:07.1 IDE interface: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C586A/B/VT82C686/A/B/VT823x/A/C PIPC Bus Master IDE (rev 06)
00:07.2 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (rev 0e)
00:07.3 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (rev 0e)
00:07.4 Bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 [Apollo Super ACPI] (rev 20)
00:07.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 21)
00:08.0 Ethernet controller: Winbond Electronics Corp W89C940
00:09.0 Multimedia audio controller: Cirrus Logic CS 4614/22/24 [CrystalClear SoundFusion Audio Accelerator] (rev 01)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5200] (rev a1)
I run FC 3 and I think i have a Intel 3 processor (It is SO hard to take out the fan)

If you are logged in as a normal user, do CTRL-ALT-Fn (where n is any number between 1 and 6). You will be dropped into a terminal, login as root and do "init 3". Install the drivers and then do "init 5" to get back to the graphical login screen. You need to make sure you have the kernel-devel package installed first before attempting to install the nvidia drivers.
