User Access

Good Day,

I am presently using a Fedora 16 64bit server and i would like your assistance in answering my question.

How do i provide a user read and write access to a file/directory without editing the file/directory permissions?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Best Regards,
ghandizzle8

Depends. What are the current permissions, and what group owns them?

If the group has rw access to the files, then you *should* be able to add the user to that group, and that user would then be able to read and write to those files. The user might have to log out then log back in for the changes to take effect.

Add user to the group which have read write permission for the directory.
