dear all,
Recently I purchased a usb ethernet adapter for my laptop running RHEL4 WS. My harware browser shows it as "ADMtek, Inc. ADM8511 Pegasus II Ethernet". Now whenever the system does a dhcp query it is getting an ipv6 address rather than the ipv4 I used to get with my old ethernet card. I am not sure where the problem is
a) is there something wrong with the device driver I am using ?
I think the pegasus driver is coming along with the kernel
there was another c file in the cd which the vendor gave but it gave some compilation errors
b) Should I disable the ipv6 from my kernel? how can I do it. How can I tell my dhcp server to give me only ipv4 address ?
c) How can I make my new usb ethernet adapter work ? :-(
