Urgent

When I start Red Hat Enterprise, GUI Logon screen appears. Here i am able to logon as root But When I press Ctrl+Alt + F1 to go to text mode logon, It does not come. How to enable it. I want both the options i.e graphical and text mode. This is perfectly ok in fedora 8

Please read:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...Ask_a_Question

Note:
Ctrl-Alt-Fx switches between virtual consoles. X exists on virtual console
7 by default. You can log into multiple sessions at the same time. When you press ctrl-alt-F1 you are going to virtual console 1, which you may not have logged into yet and X won't be running there so it is non-gui.

What happens instead of the text login?
Can you boot to runlevel 3?

Next time you post, please use an appropriate title. In your case, a good title would have been "Multiple virtual terminals?" or "CTRL+ALT+F1 not working"

Did you get an error message when you hit CTRL ALT F1??????
Did you try other Key combinations as; CTRL ALT F2 OR F3????
Can you get to the command line by going through the Menu to get to :Terminal"
