Question uninstalling old software version and installing the new version

i'm running RH9, which came loaded with mozilla 1.2. i uninstalled the old version and installed version 1.4.

now the system pointers are all pointing to the old directory location:
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.2.1/mozilla

the old launch only points to only "mozilla %u"

what do i do to make the system look in the new mozilla directory:
/usr/lib/mozilla/mozilla

i tried this:
ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla/mozilla /usr/lib/mozilla-1.2.1/mozilla
and i get an error no such file or directory exist

i try ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla /usr/lib/mozilla-1.2.1
and it doesn't work either...

how do i fix this??? i want the system links to work again.

thanks for the help in advance
eric

Symlinking should help :)

ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla/mozilla /usr/X11/bin/mozilla

You might have to add /usr/lib/mozilla/
to /etc/so.ld.conf

Cheers,
Tink

ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla/mozilla /usr/X11/bin/mozilla
results in " No such file or directory"

"/etc/so.ld.conf" doesn't exist

ln -s -f /usr/lib/mozilla/mozilla
results in a link in /root, but it doesn't start mozilla form links or from the start menu-internet-mozilla web browser

DOH ... I'm tired. My apologies....
It's ld.so.conf :/

Cheers,

this works, maybe it is a workaround, but it works...
ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla/mozilla /usr/X11R6/bin

i still don't understand how readhat gets it to work without a shortcut

what is ld.so.conf
