Unable to mount the filesystem /root in fedora 8


I have installed fedora 8 in a IDE hard disk which i had in my college system.I bought this hard disk alone to put up in my system at home.But now i get errors as listed.
1.MP bios bug:8254 timer not found
2.unable to mount the file system
3.unable to mount /dev/root
4.unable to mount /proc
