[SOLVED] Unable to attach files using Chromium Web Browser?

While I'm not new to Linux, I'm certainly not tech savvy in the least.

I have Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS and using Chromium Version 70.0.3538.110. Recently, whenever I attempt to attach a file from my computer to Facebook or gmail, Chromium crashes and I have to reopen it. Is there a drive I need? Thanks for any help.

Have you tried Firefox, or reinstalling / updating Chromium?
Is it only gmail & facebook? How about other services/sites?

Yeah. My smarta** response would be: Don't use the Chrome browser...

(But I've been a Mozilla fan for years)
Does it work with Firefox?

I've had this problem before. Whenever I tried to attach something to Gmail the browser would crash. I would imagine this is because you have done something to your system recently that it doesn't like.

I would try to do some or all of the following:

a] clear Chromium's cache
b] try disabling or removing some or all of your browser extensions
c] uninstall [purge] and reinstall

let's try to go at this technically.

in chromium, disable (uncheck) the option to "continue running background services after chromium closes" or some such
close your browser, open a terminal, and enter the following commands:

killall chromium
chromium
```
reproduce the problematic behavior, then post the content of the terminal window (all of it, not only the visible part)
enter
Code:
```
apt update
apt -s upgrade
```
and post the complete output of that, too.
