"udev" problem in linux !!

Dear Friends ,

I installed RHEL 5 into a intel clone pc . It has installed successfully in the machine . But when I restart it , it takes a lot of time during the stage of below :

"starting udev .......... [OK]"

Every time when it is starting , it takes a lot of time to start "udev" . I have to reinstall the o/s, but the problem is not solved .

Would anybody plz tell me , what is the function of "udev" and how I can solve this problem ?

Waiting for kind reply .. ...

You may be able to solve the problem by recompiling the kernel as a static one, without udev all together. Contact RHN, or read their documentation, for how to do this.

RHN will help you figure out what the problem may be as well.

Full output of the dmesg log file as an attachment may allow us to diagnose the problem.
