Ubuntu Server 20.04.2 Standard System Utilities

Hi all,

I have been following steps in a book to setup a virtual machine lab and one of the machines is a SIEM that runs Ubuntu Server. I have never used this before as I am still quite new to Linux in general. During install, the steps in the book indicate I should install the "Standard System Utilities", but I was never prompted to do so. I figured out to use tasksel to check this but when I use it and I view the "master" list of software collections this particular collection is nowhere to be found.

I understand that these utilities are more convenience oriented but I'd rather avoid having to do the installations ad hoc later. Is there a way to get this entire collection installed now given that it's not showing up in tasksel to install?

Thanks!

Edit: this may safely be ignored. I'm going down the list of utilities included in this collection and virtually all of them are already installed. In 20.04 it may be just default software that is no longer optional. Wasn't able to find anything to the contrary and since it didn't show up as an option during install that is my logical conclusion.

I'm going to venture a guess that Ubuntu server already contains "standard system utilities" in its default form.

Some more info about tasksel: https://askubuntu.com/questions/7664...server-install
