Tried unsuccessfully to uninstall Nvidia and revert to nouveau.
1. From 'Software & Updates' -> 'Additional Drivers', tried to check 'X.Org X Server - Nouveau' and pressed 'Apply Changes'. Nothing happens. After some seconds it checks back to Nvidia (340) option.
2. From the terminal, issued command
Code:
$ ubuntu-drivers devices
== /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:00.0 ==
modalias : pci:v000010DEd00000640sv000010DEsd0000077Fbc03sc00i00
vendor : NVIDIA Corporation
model : G96 [GeForce 9500 GT]
driver : nvidia-304 - third-party free
driver : nvidia-340 - third-party free recommended
driver : xserver-xorg-video-nouveau - distro free builtin
$ sudo apt remove nvidia-340

You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these.

xserver-xorg-video-nouveau is already the newest version (1:1.0.15-2).

3. Tried same as above in multi-user.target also. Same error.
It just won't remove Nvidia drivers, no matter what.
