two questions-linux noob


what are the two package managment tools used in Linux distros?and what is a repository?thanks

Well, the package management system varies depending on what distro you're using. Debian (and derivatives like Ubuntu) use dpkg and apt-get (or aptitude) for package management. I think OpenSuse uses Yast. Fedora I think uses rpm.

A repository is an online collection of software. There are different repo's for different distros. Some are officially supported and some are unofficial (community supported).

what is the simplest revision control system in common use?
what is the difference between CVN and SVN?
what is a tarball?

2) No idea.
3) Try google. The first entry on Wikipedia will probably suffice...

Are these homework questions?
