two questions-linux noob
what are the two package managment tools used in Linux distros?and what is a repository?thanks
|
Well, the package management system varies depending on what distro you're using. Debian (and derivatives like Ubuntu) use dpkg and apt-get (or aptitude) for package management. I think OpenSuse uses Yast. Fedora I think uses rpm.
A repository is an online collection of software. There are different repo's for different distros. Some are officially supported and some are unofficial (community supported). |
Thanks a lot man :D

1) No idea.
2) No idea. 3) Try google. The first entry on Wikipedia will probably suffice...;) Are these homework questions? Typically people will ignore you for trying to get answers to homework...:tisk: |
