Trying to set up HP OfficeJet G85 printer with Ubuntu 7
When I first switched the printer on after installing Ubuntu 7 I thought it was going to work. But only the first 5 lines of a document were printed than the printer stopped/stalled. I tried again - no response. I tried to clear the print queue but got an error message 'Cups server error There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-not-possible'. I then tried to reconfigure the printer but really don't know what I am doing. The change drivers window offers 4 choices:
foomatic/hpjs (recommended)
CUPS + Gutenprintv5.0.1 (simplified)
CUPs + Gutenprintv5.0.1
Foomatic/cdj550
I can't get any of these to do anything, probably because I can't clear the print queue. But I don't know what the options on the next window mean, e.g. Change Driver window with the 2 options:
Use the new PPD as is, etc.
Try to copy the option settings ....
What's this all about and which of these options should I choose?
Any thoughts on how to clear the print queue and avoid the error massage?
