Top, kill and ps

Hi there.

For my computing controlled assessment which counts towards my GCSE's I need to ask people's opinions on the following question:
Evaluate the usefulness of top and discuss how a technician might use it together with ps and kill in order to investigate a system which is misbehaving.
Thanks!

Welcome.

What have they been able to tell you about what "top", "ps", and "kill" do?

What have you been able to find out on your own regarding the three? Did they mention "pgrep" and "pkill" too?

Have a look down the current list of threads on this forum ("Linux - Newbie"). You might find one of the thread titles pops out at you (because one of your classmates appears to have got here first ).

Just as a general recommendation, I would advise you to carry out some research on your own and then come back with specific questions. You're far more likely to get better help if you do.

It's someone looking to have their homework done for them, so they can get a 'certificate'.

OP, YOU are the one who needs to learn....trying (badly) to disguise the fact you're just asking for a handout won't work. This isn't an 'opinion' type question. If you understand what those tools DO, you will then understand how to apply them. So, read about those tools and what they do. If you can't figure it out from there, you don't have the knowledge needed for your 'certificate'.
