system log location

I am looking for various system logs to view.

Where are the common locations? I am on Redhat ES4.

Try /var/log and /var/adm. Some other processes may put files in their own directories under /var, such as /var/apache2 for (obviously) apache.

Thanks.

In terms of Apache2, I have the service started, but its still the Linux default website. I don't have any logs generated though. How do I get it to generate.

Thanks,
Tt

logs are usually generated on a per access basis or every so many min, hour, days.

Try going to a page you know does not exist like http://localhost/null.htm
that should generate an error in access.log (or similar)
