SuSEPersonal 9.1 How to connect to BT openworldGot the DNS servers IP'sandISP number


Hi Linuxer's Wassup I'll get straight to the point I can't get connect to my ISP BT Yahoo Anytime. I got the ISP Number and both of the DNS servers IP address
They have two of them one of them is for back up. I'm using Kinternet
in KDE 3.2 In SuSE 9.1 Personal It dials up But I don't hear it making no modem noises a quick reply would Help
Its a Aztech CNR V.92 Modem Its a winmodem but its detected in SuSE
But I thing I need to configure it more

Just cos the SuSE can see the modem, it doesn't mean that you don't need the driver(s).

Have you checked out the modem here ? Cos that seems to be the place that has lot's of the answers in respect of winmodem's.

Failing that, as you're in Enfield, sign up to a cheap ADSL service - but don't go for a USB modem, cos they can also be a pain to config. I use a solwise modem/router into an ethernet card and it work's a treat heres the place to find out the relevant stuff on prices and hardware etc

John You Totally Rock thanks for the Help Much aprecciated I will inquire about ADSL and is it faster then cable?
Also Is running linux in broadband faster than windows?
I just want to clarify one thing my friend runs a Athlon Xp 2500 with 256 ram and he runs windows XP home he says that is faster than linux could you find some proof that linux is faster preferbly a bench mark but not needed urgently
