Sudo command failure

Hello,

I'm trying to upgrade my Linux kernel, I've got the proper files for the new kernel.

When I use a terminal and enter the command "sudo dpkg -i *.deb", I get this response "dpkg: requested operation requires superuser privilege"

I've not has this trouble before. On a different linux machine I Had no problem with the upgrade and sudo command at all. I was able to upgrade the kernel easily.

I have Ubuntu 9.04 currently with kernel 2.6.28-15-generic.

I'm trying to get to 2.6.30.

Worked great on a seprate machine, seems like I'm having trouble geting recognised as a superuser despite the use of "sudo"

Thanks for any help!

Try using sudo -i to get a shell environment that's all root and then run the dpkg command inside that shell.
