stuck while installing ubuntu

i partition my c drive

freeing up 80gb for linux which left 80 gb unformatted

but now i go to install linux i have been stuck on step 3/7"starting up the partitioner" of installing process for an hour

First, check your hard disk for any bad sectors or errors. Next, use gparted (included in the ubuntu live CD) and partition your hard disk the way you like it. Then format the partition that you intend to install Linux on it via gparted (Filesystem ext2 or ext3 I recommend ext3) and then run the installation program.
