Unhappy Squid failed: line 162

Hello all,
I am trying to use squid for Internet sharing. I have RH8.0 and running squid2.4stable7.4, my box has two network cards one is DHCP connected to a cable modem & the other is static ip. Both are working well and can be pinged. "Problem is:" when the static ip nic is activated squid starts up fine but, when the DHCP nic is activated squid takes a dive off the deep end and fails. Keep getting this when I try to start squid with DHCP nic activated.

/etc/init.d/squid start
Starting squid: /etc/init.d/squid: line 162: 1698 Aborted $SQUI D $SQUID_OPTS 2>/dev/null
[FAILED]

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
