Why is squid start failed?

I have squid install for redhat 9.0. And i am running the command /etc/init.d/squid start or service squid start. It is give me this error. What do i need to do fix this ?

[root@Delta root]# /etc/init.d/squid start
start squid : /etc/init.d/squid: line 162 : 4244 Aborted $SQUID $SQUID_OPTS 2 >/dev/null [FAILED]

squid: do you have the device /dev/null ?
