sound is not audible in Fedora 10 OS

Dear Friends !, i have recently installed Fedora 10 in my Laptop but the sound is not much audible to the listener.Its audible but not much satisfactory . So if any one suggest how to improve that ,it will be very much helpful to me .

try running a mixer program to raise volumes?
