Sound Card on Fedora Core 2 only playing test sound

I just installed Fedora Core 2 and im trying to get my sound card to work. Well I take that back it works but i can only get it to play the guitar test sound but when i put in a CD I dont get any sound when it plays. Im playing an actual audio CD not one that i burned either. I have a sound blaster and i updated the alsa files to get it to play the test sound but obviously i would like to get it to play CD's and other stuff as well. I believe I have the sound turned up properly but Im very new to linux and if some one could help me that would be great. Also since im new on linux if you could try to describe it so i understand I would appreciate it...
