So close getting Outlook emails to Linux

I have recently switched from the Evil Empire to Linux. I've installed Knoppix and run all of the updates. I've installed Evolution as my email client, and I've even gotten my address book migrated over. What I CAN'T get over are my 300-500 emails in my Outlook system! I've gone to lots of online forums on this - even the evolution website.

I've tried installing Mozilla on my Window's box and importing my Outlook mail. Mozilla sucks down all the folders, but they have no emails in them.

I've also installed Outport and did a test run by converting a few files, burning them to a cd, saving them in My Documents folder I created in Linux under the Home directory. When I try to import the folder from Evolution I get the following error:

There is no importer that is able to handle /home/brandon/evolution

Somebody any body, please help me cut the final cord! Eagerly awaiting your reply. . .

Install NetScape instead of Mozilla. This worked for me in grabbing emails from Outlook *Express*. Maybe Outlook works the same way.

Dunno how to attack that one. What about Importing on windows from Outlook to Mozilla and then moving the files to your linux partition. Then you could import from Mozilla to Evolution. It may work.

Cool

I'm sorry to inform you that Outlook and Outlook Express works in a very different way (Outlook uses psf files to store mail, address book, etc...)

It's simple to pass your e-mails from OExpress to Outlook but not vice-versa.

Returning to the problem:
Use Netscape and NOT Mozilla !!! But first you have to process your mailbox with Eudora...
That's the only method I know...

I hope it would help you.
Bye Kess...

I'm curious as to the recommendation of Bloatscape as compared to Mozilla (or Thunderbird).

well might as well throw my $0.02 in

the easiest way i did this:
1. install thunderbird in windows
2. use it to import all of my email
3. reboot to linux, install thunderbird there.
4. rename profile directory of linux install
5. copy the entire profile folder of the windows install to the profile folder in the linux install
6. rename the profile folder that you copied from windows to the linux folder name, should be a whole chunk of crazy chars.

Kess, what do you mean "you first have to process your mailbox with Eudora? Do you mean, I have to use Eudora to import the emails from Outlook?
