slackware won't start a GUI

i just installed slackware yesterday but when i boot up i don't get a GUI, all i get is a way to log in and that's it, i'm totally new to slackware, so go easy on me i have an HP DV4 1114nr

Log in using your name and password and then run

Code:

startx

to bring up the gui.

If you want to start with a GUI, edit your /etc/inittab and change the default runlevel from 3 to 4, i.e. find the line that says

id:3:initdefault:

and change the 3 to a 4.
