One of the things that you have to understand about Fedora is that however excellent a distribution it is, there's still some things that you have to do to make sure that you get a full fledged home desktop. for example, the default download will not have the codecs to play most of your cd's or even songs from your own system nor will you have flash player installed by default.
The easiest way to take care of all this is to download
fedorautils. Once installed, start it up, and click on essential tweaks and tasks and go with the default checked ones. Fedora utils will automatically download everything that your system needs.
Once this is done, choose install additional software and choose what you want installed. I usually only check chrome and skype and fedorautils will download and install both these automatically. All you have to do is wait till the installation is done and then run skype.
Please let me know if you hit any roadblocks in this.
