shell question


is there any shell command that writes to a file? something like...
$ command file.txt Hello World!
... and then the content of file.txt would be
Hello World!

I needed it badly yesterday so i wrote my own program to do this... but i think there is another way...

echo 'Hello World!' > file.txt

Thanks. The links are great, especially because i intend to start programming for linux and get involved into a serious open source project . There still is a long way to go though... It's not enough to know c or c++, I still have to learn a lot about linux...
