The shell interprets and runs the commands.

In their most basic form, shell scripts allow several commands that would be entered "by hand" at a command line interface to be executed automatically and rapidly.

We are not a homework service.

To see (in detail) what a shell is supposed to do, see here. To see in detail how it does this, see here.

Your question might be: "How does any program process commands?"

If you can give us more context for the question, we might be able to give better help......What exactly do you need to do?

If this is homework, then describe what kind of class you are taking, and tell us what books or other references you are using, and the results of Google searches.
