Setting Up Network Boot on Ubuntu Server

Hello everyone, I am new here and consider myself pretty comfortable and familiar with Linux. However I have a new project I am working on that requires having several client PC's network boot Ubuntu from a PXE server. My question pertains to how network boot works as I am a little confused. If I network boot the PC and install an application on it, then the PC restarts will the application then be deleted? If so what would be the best programs to use for setting up a network boot configuration where I can put an image of Ubuntu with the needed applications on it already and then push that out to clients?

Look into ltsp.org. makes it very easy. Use a Debian chroot so you can avoid snap difficulties.
