/boot/boot/boot/boot/boot/

I'm sure some of you Suse guys have seen this before.

jeff@linux:~> cd /boot/boot/boot/boot
jeff@linux:/boot/boot/boot/boot> pwd
/boot/boot/boot/boot
jeff@linux:/boot/boot/boot/boot> pwd -P
/boot
jeff@linux:/boot/boot/boot/boot>

jeff@linux:/boot> ls -al
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 1 2005-07-04 12:22 boot -> .

My question is should this be fixed or left as it is. I googled for an answer but opinion seemed
divided.
One person suggested this;
sudo ln -s ../boot .

For whatever reason there is a link called boot in /boot, pointing to /boot. Sounds strange, but does not disturb. Maybe someone more experienced knows why this link exists. I know it has always been there and there was no need to fix something.

My guess is that it's a kind of failsafe function in case of using a boot partition instead of /boot on the root partition.
