Unhappy scsi cdrw probs

I have just installed a Ricoh MP7060S cdrw drive, now the problem is, all the various programs I have used/tried keep telling me no scsi drive found enable scsi emulation over ATAPi.

The only program that works sort of is Gear Pro demo.

I have checked all the settings for the drive that seems ok. The system knows what drive it is, checked it via Harddrake.
Need some tips on what I should be trying next.

Do I need to reinstall Linux?

any help or tips appreciated.

You probably need to load the scsi kernel modules in order for linux to see the drive. The cd writing How-To has info on setting up a drive and the scsi How-To has more info on setting up scsi devices.

Thanks for the reply,

I have fixed the problems now, probably posted a bit too early.
permissions on some files used by the burning software was the result of the problems. Although still cant get Koncd to work. Currently using cdbakeoven very nice program.

Will check out the links posted too.

Have a look at gtoaster and gcombust, two very good cdrecord front ends, better than their kde counterparts.
