Saving app-files

Hello,

where should I save the installation files of the applications I want to install?

Example:
I want to install azureus.
I already downloaded and extracted the files.
Before running the sh file, I have to copy the whole directory to the place I want to install azureus.

I am logged in as root.

Can you tell me where ?

That depends on whether you want the app to be
available to every user or not. If you're the only
user it would be safe enough to just run it from any
directory under your home, otherwise /usr/local
is a good place.

Cheers,
Tink
