Exclamation Samba and multiple domain controllers

Hello all, I'm a Linux newbie but find myself stuck in the middle between co-workers and IT contractors. Our engineering department is running Suse Linux 9.3 and Samba 3.0. Their smb.conf shows our domain as their realm and security = domain.

Here's the issue, our contractor recently changed our domain controller to windows 2008 from windows 2003 and now the engineers are unable to connect to their Samba shares.

Here's the question - can we specify a domain controller in samba so it will specifically look at our win 2003 domain controller and disregard our win 2008 domain controller?

I've read a lot of information online, but being new to Linux I can't tell whether it's actually possible to do.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Hello mmartin, welcome to LQ,

in such a case (new server in an M$-AD-Domain) I would at first take a look at /etc/resolv.conf. As you know every Domainmember in an M$-Domain needs one of the domaincontrollers configured as the DNS-server. This means if the new 2008-server has another IP-adress than the old 2003-server you'll have to configure your Linux-machines for the new DNS-server.

resolv.conf

We tried this to no avail. Thank you for giving me something new to look at.
