RPM howTo

hi. I'm trying to download and install apache 1.3 with an RPM.

rpm -ivr ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/reb00t.co....MPSSL.src.rpm

this package actually gave me mod_perl etc too, which i wouldn't mind having loaded in there, if it's not too much trouble. But for right now, until i look into that, this newbie is trying to stick with just apache.

so it downloaded the stuff. but what is the next command? it didn't install it in the sense of, now it should be ready to run, did it? b/c I certainly can't find it as up and running application.

what's to do next?

thnx

It's not a RPM, it's a src.rpm, i guess you picked it in the wrong directory.
What you're looking for might be :
ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/reb00t.co...MPSSL.i686.rpm

another thing : now I'm trying to download some dependent files.
i do a google search for the exact name tha t i'm looking for.
i get a listing of many RPM links in which to download. If i do it through my browser (i click on them) they download onto my windows machine.

If I type "rpm -ivr url_of_link_for_dependent_file.rpm" however, I get a "no packages given for install" message.
